Winter Weather Lab Preparation

With forecasted freezing temperatures, please ensure your laboratory is prepared for cold weather conditions.

As applicable to your space, please confirm the following:

• Temperature-sensitive chemicals, biological materials, and samples are protected from freezing
• Liquids, chemicals, and containers are not stored near exterior walls, windows, or unheated areas
• Hazardous materials and waste containers are secured to prevent cracking, rupture, or release
• Lab equipment and research processes dependent on water, chilled water, or other utilities are monitored
• Experiments or equipment vulnerable to loss of environmental controls are appropriately paused or safeguarded
• Any loss of heat, water flow issues, or environmental control concerns are reported promptly through normal facilities reporting channels

Radioactive Waste
