Each year, the Georgia Tech Student Alumni Association (SAA) makes a monetary contribution to a campus program selected by students. The top eight programs are put forward for students to cast their votes for their favorite program from January 11th until March 18th. The top three projects are then brought to the SAA for a vote, where they select the final winner.
This year, a program developed through a partnership between the Georgia Tech Facilities Sustainability Committee and the Georgia Tech Office of Campus Sustainability, Work Green, is on the ballot.
Work Green would be a voluntary recognition program, implemented at the campus department or office level that promotes a culture of sustainability in campus workplaces. Program Objectives are:
- Develop and leverage a network of Green Champions
- Engage the community in campus sustainability goals
- Educate community members to practice sustainability every day
Office Green Champions would coordinate among their co-workers and staff to implement the program using a resource guide with sensible best practices that best fit the office's needs. The program award level is based on the amount of strategies implemented in the workplace.
Funding from SAA's Gift to Tech would be used to establish an endowment to fund seed grants for innovation projects identified and developed by program participants. Additionally, the funding would provide materials to communicate best practices and recognition to offices that show significant improvements.
Spread the word to the student body and encourage them to participate in the voting process.
