- Visually inspect the AED to ensure that the AED status is flashing green.
- Open wall cabinet door to ensure that the alarm is audible and the light is flashing.
- Turn off alarm cabinet with key.
- Remove the AED and check the “Ready Kit” for supplies. Required supplies include:
- CPR Face Shield (mouth-to-mouth barrier)
- Razor
- Scissors
- Medical Exam Gloves
- Ensure that AED pads are present and not expired. Also, make sure that the pad package has not been opened or tampered with.
- Remove the battery from the bottom of the unit and note the manufacturing date. Note if the AED battery is expired. The expiration date is four years after the manufacturing date.
- Return the battery to the AED unit. Hold the green button until the AED starts relying instructions. Press the button again to halt the instructions.
- Return the AED to its cabinet.
- Turn on the alarm with cabinet key.
