chemicals stored in flammable cabinet

EHS is actively working on procuring a new Chemical Inventory System to replace the current one, Chematix. A Search Committee was established in early 2015 to provide input and advice to EHS on requirements for the new system. Members included representatives from CoE and CoS, two of the major end users of Chematix, to ensure the interests of academic and research users are incorporated into the search process. A survey was sent out to Chematix users to get their feedback on what they want in a new system.

Based on survey results, a list of mandatory requirements was compiled that was put into a Request For Proposal (RFP).  A RFP review panel assisted in editing both mandatory requirements and additional questions that were part of the final RFP. RFP review panel members that will score the systems are Morgan Wright and Ed Pozniak from EHS, Dr. Pamela Pollet from CoS, and Darryl Williams from CoE. The RFP will close on February 10.

The review panel is planning on having the top two vendors perform in person demonstrations of their products, and complete a test site evaluation where GT labs will actually use the database and provide critical feedback.

It is our desire to acquire a robust, user friendly system that will increase efficiency and compliance and for both EHS and the end users.  More information on the selection of the new system and its implementation will be provided in the coming months.
