A methane odor may be the result of the sink and floor drain traps drying out, which allows sewer gases—including methane—to escape into the room.
Remedy: please flush the drains WEEKLY by pouring 1-Liter of water down all sinks and floor drains (especially rarely used ones) to keep drain traps filled.
Call your Building Manager or GT Facilities if odors persist despite regular maintenance.
Laboratory workers are expected to take responsibility for their own safety by learning the locations of, and how to use emergency equipment as well as being proficient in emergency procedures.
