Do you know how many makerspaces are currently operating at GT? I had the pleasure of touring 10 makerspaces across campus over the past couple of months, from Invention Studio (first one on campus!) to the GVU Prototyping Lab in the basement of TSRB to the Student Competition Center on 14th St. These open and welcoming spaces promote multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation, community ownership, and access to traditional machine shop tools as well as 3D printers.

EHS wants to support management in ensuring safety is consistent across these unique environments and by providing training resources. I was incredibly impressed with the creativity of our students and the pride that supervisors and faculty advisors have in their makerspaces. If you haven’t ventured into one of these exciting makerspaces, I highly encourage you to do so!
