The Biological Materials Safeguards Committee (BMSC) Application Submission Process is also slightly changing.

• With the EHSA upgrades, the BMSC protocol submission process is changing slightly:
  • Improved questions for clarity
  • Built-in Dual Use Research of Concern questions (no longer need to submit an attachment)
  • New method for adding personnel
  • New, easier to use, interface
• We will transition to this new system at one time (along with the chemical inventory) so it is critical to note that there will be a firm stop date for submitting protocols through the old system. 
  • All old data will be transferred with EHS verification so there is no action on your part.
  • We will notify you of this date and you will no longer have access to the old system. 
• EHS will work with PIs that have applications in process individually to ensure that this transition moves smoothly.
• We will also be transitioning to a new permit numbering system for approvals and will notify PIs individually of these changes as they occur to eliminate any confusion it may cause.
